New News

Girls Varsity Volleyball! If you have not seen them play, you are missing out because this group of young ladies are an excellent team.  Last year they went to the state championship game and lost by just a couple of points.  This year, Coach Wood anticipates they have what it takes to be in the state championship game again.  If that is the case, the state championship game will be held on Friday, November 8th. The team still must win the regional game (this Sat.) and then the semi-final game after that. If they make it all the way to the final game, all school will be canceled on Friday, November 8th to include the elementary and after school care, in support of our NBCA lady Wildcat team.  Please be on the lookout for an email and news blast through the NBCA live feed app on Thursday night as to the outcome of the semi-final game.  Correspondence will be sent out whether they win or lose.  Go Wildcats!

Hot Lunch ordering details  Remember that the lunch ordering online capabilities for parents is closed from 9am - noon on school days so that Mrs. Jackson can run reports.  If you have any questions regarding, you can call the elementary office 830-629-6222.

All Pro Dads Our next opportunity for this event is Friday, November 8th.  If you put two and two together, you realize that is also the potential day that the volleyball team is in the state game and thus no school.  This will be addressed in the correspondence on the evening of Thursday, November 7th.  Also, be aware that we have set two dates for APD in the spring: Friday, February 28th and Friday, May 1st.  We had a great turnout on our first one and I hope it was a blessing to you and your children.

Did you miss the State of School meeting that was recently held by Shannon Marek and the School Board?  Please contact Daniel Pearson, our IT dude, and he can provide a link for you to watch and listen in.  dpearson@nbcatx.org.

Last week and still relevant News: Week of 10/21

Celebrating New Braunfels German heritage

On Friday, November 1st students are allowed and encouraged to wear German attire to celebrate the rich heritage like: hats, shirts, dresses, , literhousen, etc. Some teachers will be dressed up as well.  Parents are welcome to attend the special program at 10am that morning.  Here is a little information about them:  https://theoompahs.com/  David Smith and Pearly Sowell will be coming and you can see some info about them at this link and http://www.sevendutchmen.com/ for John Kaderli and his wife Janet who will be representing the band.  These talented folks have worked with students for over 30 years enriching the German culture and we are very blessed that they can fit the NBCA elementary students into their very busy schedule!  Thank you goes to Mrs. Brawner for getting something special set up for us each year.

Veteran’s Day Program

This program is quickly approaching.  Don’t forget to get those Veteran’s pictures sent in.  Contact Daniel Pearson for questions at dpearson@nbcatx.org.  It starts at 9:30am in the elementary gym on Wednesday, November 6th.  We look forward to having your family with us.  Remember that Veteran’s Day on Monday, November 11th is a school holiday.

Picture Retakes

For the elementary, this will be on Thursday, November 7th at 8am.  If students purchased picture packages and want a retake, Lifetouch asks that they bring that package back with them.  Parents are asked to make notes on the packages so the photographers know what they need to do differently :)

Lost and Found

Thank you for all of the wonderful donations!  Just kidding, please check this table of goodies out, maybe at the next award ceremony, to see if any of these items are yours.  Otherwise, the office will sell items for a $1 starting Monday, October 28th.

Please remember our policy as we start getting into the colder months…finally!  To be uniform, only NBCA outerwear is to be worn in the buildings.  For outside, students are permitted to wear non-NBCA jackets.  See the website under parent resources – student dress code - for full details.

Security on campus

The Gate is almost complete!  We hope to be able to see this to completion very soon.  As you may recall, this initiative was jump started because families were moved to give above and beyond.  Little by little, funds began to trickle in.  If you would like to continue helping in this enhancement of security, please reach out to Kevin Boston at kboston@nbcatx.org.

Diane, ready to open gate! :-)               Camera and video to see visitor               Walking in to visit campus

Treats for Troops -Presented by Great Oaks Dentistry

Dr. Marshall Warren, whose 2 children graduated from NBCA, and his team at Great Oaks Dentistry are hosting a fun, friendly competition among grades at New Braunfels Christian Academy. To participate, students should bring unopened candy to class during the week of Nov. 4-8. Collected class candy will be weighed at the end of the week, and the class with the most candy will win a pizza party from Great Oaks Dentistry!
All candy will then be sent to servicemen and women overseas. We want to put a SWEET SMILE on our troop’s face, let them know we are thinking of them, and at the same time keep our children’s smiles sweet!
